Bedwyn Footpaths Group – Crofton & Wilton Water

Event Details

Crofton & Wilton Water - 3 miles

Date: Thursday 21st March 2024

Time: 10:00 am - 11:30 pm

Location: Car Park at Crofton Pumping Station, Crofton, SN8 3DW Parking donation £1.50

From the car park there is a short walk along the road, over the railway and canal bridges, by Samuel Farmer Lock and along Dark Lane. From there we leave the lane and go up a short flight of wooden steps and across two fields which until recently had 4 stiles to negotiate. The stiles were replaced with gates last year, funded by Pewsey Area Board and installed with help from Bedwyn Footpaths Volunteers, Wilts Council’s countryside access officer and the landowner. We’ll cross a spring that feeds Wilton water and climb the bank up from the stream. The route follows paths to Wilton and the duck pond, then returns alongside Wilton Water and the along the towpath with a fine view of the pumping station. Bring a drink or snack for a short refreshment stop. One stile, Two steep banks with steps.
