Tourist Information Kiosk now open!

Friday 31st March 2017 - during English Tourism Week - saw the official opening of our first Tourist Information Kiosk.

Matt Barnes, Regional Development Manager from GWR performed the ceremony.

Patrick Wilson, Chair of the Pewsey Vale Tourism Partnership, said:  “Kiosks give us the opportunity to provide information to our visitors at places that are convenient to them, such as this first one located at Swan Corner in Pewsey, in sight of the Pewsey White Horse.  Inside, you can find an illustrated map of the Vale of Pewsey, as well as leaflets on things to do, places to visit, events and advertisements from our members.”

Each advert has a QR code so that you can scan it with your phone to take you to the relevant page on our website - www.visitpewseyvale.co.uk.  This project has come about from an idea from Pewsey Parish Council, together with funding from Wiltshire Council's Pewsey Area Board as well as effort from volunteers involved in the execution of the fittings and material inside.  The Tourism Partnership's members have free advertising in the kiosk until the end of September and it is just one of the many benefits of being a member of the Partnership.

Matthew Barnes, GWR’s Regional Development Manager for the area, praised the hard work of all attendees in attracting visitors to the area and said:  “As I am sure you are aware, this week is English Tourism week, and I am delighted to be able to be here today to open this information point, only too aware of the value of rail to the local economy and community.  This year we will start a new timetable with an improved frequency and spread of service, and next year we will see a new fleet of Intercity Express Trains on this very route, providing even more seats, improved services, and enabling visitors to take better advantage of all Pewsey Vale has to offer.”
