This walk and cycle route is available from the GPS Walking & Cycling website. Please take care when cycling along the towpath – not all of it is suitable and walkers have the right of way. Please read the advice on towpath etiquette from the Canal & River Trust. You can of course just do bits of the entire canal – and hopefully stop off at one of the delightful Pewsey Vale villages on the way for lunch or perhaps take some time out and stay for a few days.
A splendid waterside walk from the Thames at Reading, through Thatcham, Hungerford, Pewsey, Devizes, Bradford-on-Avon to Bath. Most of the walk follows the towpath making for an easy, relaxing walk. The route of the Kennet & Avon Canal takes you through some of the nation’s best loved landscapes, including West Berkshire and East Wiltshire – which is in the North Wessex Downs National Landscape – and the southern tip of the rolling Cotswolds.
