The Pewsey Heritage Centre specializes in the social, industrial, and agricultural history and heritage of the Pewsey Vale. The building was originally the foundry for agricultural engineers, Whatley & Hiscock, and now provides an easily accessible, airy, and spacious setting housing a wonderful collection that is sure to bring back memories.
Learn about how the mechanization of farming changed the Pewsey Vale’s way of life, see the machinery, and try to guess what some of the items were used for. You can get so close to the exhibits; it’s an excellent opportunity to remind yourself of days gone by and to explain to the younger generations what life was like before their time.
It’s a real treasure trove of interesting items, with volunteers on hand to help you with information and explanations. Immerse yourself in centuries of rural history – a visit can be of any length, and with a number of lovely cafes and pubs close by.
We also have available for hire our Education Centre, a building adjacent to the main building, that can accommodate up to 35 people. It is equipped with a kitchen including cutlery and crockery, an accessible toilet, a screen, projector, sound system, and has a decking area by the River Avon if the weather permits.
There is a disabled parking space right outside the Heritage Centre. Otherwise, free car parking is available at the Co-Op, which is 150 meters away. There is full wheelchair access and toilet facilities available.
