Wilton Village - A Living Landscape - an event organised by the North Wessex Downs Landscape Trust
Friday 13th June 11am to 4pm
At Manor Farm, Wilton, Marlborough SN8 3SP
Private guided visit to Wilton Windmill and Manor Farm:
Wilton Village lies in the heart of the North Wessex Downs and is a wonderful example of how the industrial revolution impacted upon rural Wiltshire, with the Kennet and Avon canal, Great Western Railway, Crofton pumping station and Wilton Windmill all within a stone's throw of the village pond! The Lemon family have been at Manor Farm in Wilton for four generations, and over that time they have seen huge changes both in the way they farm and in the landscape around them.
Over the course of the day, you'll get a chance to find out more about local history (including the house that was never built!) and visit Wilton Windmill. You'll also get a guided tour of Manor Farm and discover how today farmers in the area are working together to enhance the local landscape and biodiversity, protect water quality, and manage woodland. There'll be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and learn about regenerative farming, the Southern Streams project, and the environmental initiatives at Manor Farm that are delivering benefits for wildlife alongside food production.
For a bit of background, try virtual visits to Wilton Windmill, Manor Farm Wilton, and Southern Streams.
Please note, tea/coffee and light refreshments will be provided but lunch is not included. You can eat at the Swan in Wilton (pre-ordering advised) or you're welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy on the lawn.
This event is suitable for adults. Sorry, no dogs.
