Bedwyn Footpaths Group – Jones’s Mill Walk

Event Details

Group Walk Pewsey, Scotchel and Jones’s Mill reserves and canal 4 miles.

Date: Thursday 13th June 2024
Time: 10.00am - 12.00pm
Location: Bouverie Hall free car park, Pewsey SN9 5EQ

We’ll leave Pewsey walking beside the River Avon, along a winding path through a peaceful area bequeathed to the village as a nature reserve. Then our route continues through the outskirts of Pewsey to reach Jones’s Mill where we’ll meet the Salisbury Avon again as it flows through an area of wet woodland. We’ll follow the boardwalk which loops around the fenland and return to the village along the canal towpath. On the recce we were lucky enough to see a heron catch a fish but that can’t be guaranteed!

A few things to note:
The long boardwalk is narrow, only two planks wide with waterlogged ground on either side.
Livestock might be grazing the meadow so no dogs please.
No stiles.
A short flight of steps.

After the walk there are many lovely places in Pewsey that walkers might like to visit for coffee or lunch: Snoopers Bazaar, Pewsey Vale Community Craft & Tea Room or The Little Lunch Box. The Pewsey Heritage Centre is also open.

All welcome on the walk. No need to book.

The walk is kindly being arranged and led by members Kevin & Ros McGowan from Ludgershall.
