Rushall Organics is a fully organic farm set on the edge of Rushall village to the north of Salisbury Plain.
Run by Nigel and Joe Wookey, the farm is approximately 2000 hectares of which approximately half is arable and the rest is grass, woodland or designated military land. The farm has been in the Wookey family since 1928 and began its conversion to organic in 1970.
Being an organic farm, the conservation aspect of the farm is extremely important – you can see flocks of finches in numbers you don’t see elsewhere and the River Avon is renowned for its kingfishers and healthy population of brown trout and grayling.
Over the years, the farm has diversified and now includes the beautiful Chalk Barn for events, as well as:
Game Shooting
Shooting pheasant and partridge in this part of Wiltshire, plays a huge role in Rushall Organics’ conservation efforts. The management of the farm for shooting pheasant and partridge allows them to preserve the habitat of this part of Wiltshire in a truly unique way that encourages a variety of extremely rare plants and animals such as wild grey partridge, lapwing, stone curlew, yellowhammer and corn bunting.
They accept bookings of teams of between 7 – 10 guns. They accept guns of all abilities, and can provide gun hire as well as loaders and instructors upon request. They also have their own accommodation available should you need somewhere to stay after a day in the field.
They believe that they can show a huge variety of birds at Rushall and Upavon, and can therefore cater to all abilities of shot, from a novice to the best in the country! Hosted at the magnificent Chalk Barn on the estate, they offer hospitality that is second to none. You and your guests will never leave without having tasted the best food and the finest wine that Wiltshire can offer.
Simulated Game Shooting
Rushall Organics also offer simulated clay days at Rushall. Available to all abilities of guns for between 6 – 20 guests, this really is a fantastic way to enjoy the sport throughout the warmer months of the year, when the farm is really showing off. It’s a fantastic way to have some fun, but also to see the benefits that organic farming can bring to the natural environment, adding extra value to your simulated clay shooting experience.
Their clay ‘drives’ offer great variety for the guns, and it’s the perfect way to introduce new people to the sport. Whether it’s a private party, corporate event, or a pre-season warm up, Rushall Organics can cater for all.
Accompanied with first class hospitality at Chalk Barn, there isn’t a better way for you and your guests to spend a day out together, everyone will leave with a smile on their face! Rushall Organics can provide gun hire, and tuition on request, so all you need to bring is a cap, coat and some boots.
