Wild Camping Dark Lane
Dark Lane
East Grafton
SN8 3DR

This beautiful wild camping location, which has achieved the Green Tourism Bronze award, is comprised of just under 3 acres of private woodland and field on the edge of the village of East Grafton – a very peaceful spot where you can relax and be close to nature.

To support sustainable tourism, Wild Camping encourages people to use more sustainable transport if it is possible.  They offer car parking for all six of the camping pitches, with four campervan pitches also available – giving everyone plenty of space.  Wild Camping is also registered with the Greener Camping Club.

There are three compost loo’s, two off-grid solar powered showers, two wash up stations and drinking water is available from a solar-powered borehole.  There is no electrical hook up. A small charge for well-behaved dogs is made (to be supervised at all times please). Fire pits and wood can be provided as an added extra.

There is lots more information on wild camping and what to expect on Wild Camping Dark Lane’s website where you can check availability and book your pitch.

Wild Camping Dark Lane is located approximately 3 miles from Great Bedwyn, with direct trains to and from Paddington London, and just under a mile from the picturesque village of Wilton, home to The Swan Inn providing locally sourced food and drink. There is a beautiful walk along the Kennet & Avon Canal to Great Bedwyn shop (2.8 miles) and a 2 mile walk/drive to Burbage where there are shops and laundry facilities. The number 22 bus (stop 700m away) takes you to the nearby town of Hungerford via the local villages. Wild Camping is ideally located for the national cycle route 4 which is within 1/2 km.

The local countryside provides endless opportunities for hiking, cycling, horse riding and most importantly the opportunity to revel in nature and the wellbeing it provides. The North Wessex Downs is a 2-star dark skies site, so on a clear night the stars are breathtaking and you can see the Milky Way with the naked eye.
