At the Coronation Hall in Alton Barnes, Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro in a 18th century arrangement for String Quartet takes place on Thursday 4th December at 7pm.
This will be famous tunes from the opera in an 18th century arrangement for string quartet, led by Maggie Faultless.
In the days before recordings the only way to relive the experience of a night at the opera was to bring the music back home, in the form of chamber arrangements for piano and voice, or wind, or strings. Principal players of The Orchestra of The Age of Enlightenment bring the most famous numbers from Figaro to Alton Barnes for a pre-Christmas treat.
